About the event

For generations, Jamaican women have been taught to be strong no matter what. To push through pain. To take care of everybody else first. To keep going even when they are tired, hurting, overwhelmed, or struggling in silence. But many women are carrying more than strength.

They are carrying stress, trauma, abuse, grief, financial pressure, loneliness, anxiety, and emotional wounds that often go unseen and unspoken. In many of our communities, mental health is still misunderstood, and too many women feel like they have to “deal with it” on their own.

“Carrying More Than Strength: Jamaican Women, Culture & Mental Health” is a safe space for honest conversation, healing, and connection. Together, we will talk openly about the realities Jamaican women face, the cultural pressures that shape us, and the importance of rest, support, and emotional wellness.
