More Than Networking

The Afro-Caribbean Black Mentorship Program (ACMP) Inc.’s More Than Networking workshop reimagines networking as a practice rooted in community, authenticity, and collective advancement. Designed for both secondary and post-secondary Afro-Caribbean and Black (ACB) students, this workshop moves beyond transactional approaches to professional connection, centring relationship-building as a tool for long-term success and community empowerment.

Student participants connect with Black professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders in spaces that focus on genuine dialogue, shared experience, and supporting students' economic and career growth. The workshop challenges traditional views of networking that often exclude or marginalize ACB individuals, instead creating environments where participants can be themselves fully.

Through interactive sessions, students develop practical skills in communication, personal branding, and professional engagement, while also learning how to navigate spaces where they may be underrepresented. Emphasis is placed on building confidence, leveraging community networks, and understanding the value of reciprocity—how giving, supporting, and uplifting others is central to sustainable success.

More Than Networking positions connection as a form of collective power. By strengthening relationships across generations and sectors, ACMP helps participants expand their opportunities while contributing to a broader ecosystem of support, mentorship, and leadership within Afro-Caribbean and Black communities.
