How to Get into Post-Secondary School

The Afro-Caribbean Black Mentorship Program (ACMP) Inc.’s "How to Get into Post-Secondary School" workshop aims to assist Afro-Caribbean and Black (ACB) high school students in navigating the move to higher education. Based on ACMP’s dedication to access, equity, and educational empowerment, this workshop offers students the knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to follow post-secondary paths.

Participants are guided through the application process, including choosing programs and institutions, meeting admission criteria, preparing compelling applications, and understanding important timelines. The workshop also covers key topics such as scholarships, financial aid, and funding options, ensuring students are well-equipped to make informed decisions about their educational futures.

What makes this workshop unique is its culturally responsive and mentorship-focused approach. Students interact with Afro-Caribbean and Black post-secondary students, graduates, and faculty members who share personal experiences, practical advice, and success strategies. These connections help clarify academic environments and confirm that post-secondary education is both achievable and significant.

By creating a supportive and affirming learning environment, ACMP helps students build confidence, set clear goals, and see themselves progressing within higher education. This workshop reflects ACMP’s broader mission to remove barriers, expand access, and empower the next generation of Afro-Caribbean and Black students to succeed academically and beyond.
